Choosing Your Photographer.. Six simple questions…
With so many photographers around these days, how do you choose a good photographer? Here are six simple steps to help sort out the real photographers from the people that just pick up a camera in auto and take their chances….
(1) Like everything else in life, you get what you pay for. The cheaper the photographer the less the quality of your photos. If you just want any shots and quality is not your main concern, then a budget photographer might suit you well.
(2) Is the photographer a full time photographer? or a part time photographer? There are several reasons why this is an important question. Firstly if they are full time its because they are good enough to be full time, a lot of people don’t have the skill or the work to be full time photographers. A full time photographer will be much more attentive to your needs and wait times will be much less, as the photographer has all week to edit and deliver your photos, where as the person that works a day job and has family / personal life commitments will take much longer and usually the quality is not as good either. They have to rush more photos through in a shorter period of time.
(3) Do your research, check out the social media sites like Facebook etc and see what other brides say about the photographer, email the brides, ask them questions and see what the brides say, this is possibly the most important work that you can do when choosing for your photographer.
(4) Look at all the photos from the photographer. Do they look unique and different or are they shots you could do yourself? If your after something different then look around. Don’t settle for seconds as at the end of the day thats all you have left.
(5) Dont skimp on your photographer, you might save $1000 booking a cheaper photographer but if you get your photos back and your not happy, then you have not saved $1000 you probably have wasted $2000….
(6) Does the photographer supply you ALL photos in high resolution on DVD (not a cut down selection, but ALL of them).
